Sea Star Cottage, Inverness, Calif.

I went to Sea Star Cottage for 3 days with a bag of knitting, a bag of beads, and an iPod full of audio books. Here are some photos.

This is the view from the front doorway toward the kitchen. You can see I've already scattered my papers all over the coffee table (which was actually a cedar chest).

This is the view from the front door toward Sir Francis Drake Blvd. That's my car at the end of the pier.

Bed nook. It faced the sunporch. My CPAP is on the bed.

The bathroom was what might be called in advertising copy "cozy." I called it "the size of a postage stamp."

I can't resist taking photos of water. This one looks like op art to me.

There was a visitor to the cottage during the night. I found this in the mud outside the back of the cottage at low tide. I'm guessing raccoon.

The yacht club held kids' sailing lessons in the morning. The boats are about the size of your average rowboat.

These birds showed up on Wednesday morning near the house to the north. I'm not sure what kinds they all were, although the one on the right looks kind of crane-ish. They weren't there on subsequent mornings.

Thursday 3 August

I bought a giant artichoke at a produce store in Point Reyes Station. It had a giant artichoke heart. The Altoids tin (actually my camera case) included for size reference, not as a serving suggestion.
